Recommended Grade Level:  9

Credit Earned:  1

Spanish l, the first level of a three-year sequence, provides an introduction to the Spanish language and the culture of the Spanish-speaking world.  The aim of this course is to help each student attain an acceptable degree of proficiency in the four skills of listending, speaking, reading, and writing.  Tapes are used so that the student may hear native speakers.  The materials are excellent, and are designed to elicit a high level of student participation.  The majority of the activities have youth-related themes (hobbies, travel, school, work, dating, love, money, and relationships with parents, etc.)  The students learn of the geopgraphic, ethnic, and cultural variety of the Spanish-speaking world.
