Senior Chorus

Senior Chorus Events

Recommended Grade Level:  9-12
Prerequisites:  Junior chorus and/or director recommendation
Credit Earned:  1/2
The senior high chorus has a minimum of two major performances per year.  Attendance at these concerts is mandatory, as performance constitutes forty percent of the grade.  The rest of the grade is comprised of rehearsal attendance, effort and written assignments such as background information sheets and rehearsal evaluations.  Students sing, listen to, and study music from a wide variety of styles, places and times.  Elements of music are taught in relation to performance practice.  Sight-singing and basic jazz improvisations are taught as part of the course.  All senior chorus students who are not in band take voice lessons on a rotating basis; this is mandatory.  Trips to competitions, performances, and concerts may also be included as part of the course.
Membership in chorus is a prerequisite for participation in All-County ensembles and NYSSMA auditions and ensembles.
Dress for all concerts is school-appropriate black pants or skirts, and white shirts.
